FOCUS
Ms. Leavitt focuses her practice in the defense of medical
malpractice, premises liability and product liability claims.
As a well-experienced associate attorney, she has researched,
drafted and argued motions to dismiss, summary judgments and
forum challenges; assisted in trials; participated in depositions
and presented doctors, nurses and physical therapists as witnesses
and experts; and, most importantly in the clients' perspective
- presided over the successful settlement of cases before
trial and the early dismissal of cases.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
In May 2002, Ms. Leavitt was admitted to practice law in Illinois and is a
member of the American Bar Association, Illinois State Bar
Association and Chicago Bar Association. She was an intern
for The Options Clearing Corporation, assisting general counsel
on commercial, intellectual property, employment and securities
matters, and a legal consultant to a large energy corporation
prior to entering private practice with a small Chicago law
firm that represented hospitals, doctors and nurses in medical
malpractice lawsuits.
EDUCATION
Ms. Leavitt is a 2002 graduate of the Thomas M. Cooley School
of Law, where she was on the Dean's List and qualified as
a member of the Intra-School Moot Court Competition team.
Her undergraduate degree was awarded in 1999 in Criminal Justice
and Sociology by Illinois State University, where she was
also selected for the Dean's List and served as President
of the ISU Criminal Justice Association.
