FOCUS
Ms. Lowis has been a member of the state and federal bars
since 1978. Also a member of the California bar, she is one
of the founding partners of Lowis & Gellen. A skilled
and experienced trial attorney, she has tried numerous cases
involving catastrophic injuries, deaths and brain damaged
children. The majority of her trials have been medical malpractice
cases. In 2007, Ms. Lowis was designated by her peers and colleagues
to be one of the top civil defense lawyers in Illinois, a "Leading
Lawyer" in medical malpractice defense.
She often addresses hospital groups, physicians and risk managers on medical/legal issues.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Ms. Lowis is a member of the Society of Trial Lawyers, which
requires extensive trial experience as a prerequisite to membership.
She is also a member of the Illinois State Bar Association
and the Illinois Association of Hospital Attorneys. She was
an adjunct professor of law at Chicago Kent College of Law
for many years where she taught legal writing and medical
malpractice.
EDUCATION
Ms. Lowis received a B.A., from the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri, in 1967
and a J.D. from Chicago Kent College of Law, Chicago, Illinois, in 1978.
